Why EBU: This region was affected by LRA Rebels so much that Education was affected for over twenty years, more especially theological education. According to Joshua project, 95 percent African church leaders are not trained. So, most pastors are not trained in Northern Uganda that why Ezra Bible Institute and now registered as a university is here.

So, went Dr. Kim came to Lira, he started rural Bible trainings going from district-to-district training pastors, and church leaders in different communities in northern Uganda. Finally, God gave him a vision to start a Bible Institute to help in bridging that of lack of trained leaders in the churches in Northern Uganda.

This is why in 2018; Ezra Bible University was formally started under a tent at the mission center, with a certificate class in Biblical studies and Christian ministries. Sometimes the wind would come and throw down the Tent but we continued by faith and relentlessly despite such challenges. Within that some year of 2018, God opened doors of provision through our director and vision bearer Dr. Kim as he shared the vision of Ezra Bible Institute to his friends, and this Land where the institute is standing on here were constructed.

In 2019, we started the Diploma classes also, since then up to now, we have been having certificate and diploma classes in Biblical studies and Theology. We have so far graduated about 120 students from different church denominations.

Now that we have transformed EBI into a University (EZRA BIBLE UNIVERSITY), we will very soon begin to offer Degree programs in “Biblical Studies”, the process is ongoing to see EBU accredited with National Council of Higher Education in Uganda.
